Ian Bell appointed assistant coach of Delhi Capitals for IPL 2026

Delhi Capitals have strengthened their coaching staff ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League season, appointing former England batter Ian Bell as assistant coach. The franchise confirmed the development on Tuesday, marking Bell’s first coaching role in the IPL.
Bell brings with him a wealth of international experience. In his distinguished career, he represented England in 118 Test matches, 161 ODIs, and eight T20Is. He amassed 7,727 Test runs, including 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries. Since retiring from professional cricket, Bell has worked closely with England’s junior and age-group teams, playing a role in nurturing emerging talent within the national setup.
At Delhi Capitals, Bell will join an experienced and diverse support staff. He will work alongside head coach Hemang Badani and team mentor Kevin Pietersen, his former England teammate. The coaching group also features director of cricket Venugopal Rao and bowling coach Munaf Patel.
