Mohammed Shami produced an eye-catching bowling masterclass in the semi-final of the Ranji Trophy, nabbing a sensational 8 for 90 to dismantle Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Appearing for Bengal, Shami looked incredibly threatening, putting Jammu and Kashmir batter under great pressure. The eight-wicket haul highlighted Shami's endurance and intelligence with the ball. Having been out of team India for a long period, this performance will be useful given the timing.

Since the conclusion of the Champions Trophy last year, Shami has been sidelined due to injury concerns and fitness setbacks. He has not been able to assert himself back into the team despite performing exceptionally at the domestic level. Rather than rushing back, Shami opted for a measured return through the domestic circuit. Each outing has been highly impressive for Shami. The semi-final spell was another show of resolve from the veteran seamer.

With international assignments in 2026 looming, Shami’s resurgence could not have come at a better time, compelling Indian selectors to take notice of his red-hot form. Talking about the match, Bengal, asked to bat, put out a huge total of 328 all out in their first innings, with Sudip Kumar Gharami slamming 146. In reply, Jammu and Kashmir fought hard before being bowled out for 302.
