Big blow for RR, Sam Curran expected to miss IPL 2026

Rajasthan Royals have been dealt a massive jolt, with Sam Curran, according to reports, likely to miss IPL 2026 due to a suspected groin injury. Curran’s last appearance came on March 5 during the Men's T20 World Cup 2026, where England lost to India in a nail-biting semi-final. Since then, concerns over his fitness have escalated, and early reports suggest he may not recover in time for the demanding IPL schedule.
Curran was secured by Rajasthan Royals through a high-profile trade with Chennai Super Kings last November. The deal also involved Indian star Ravindra Jadeja moving to Rajasthan, while wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson headed to Chennai Super Kings. Curran, firstly, rose to prominence with Punjab Kings in 2019, delivering a string of enthralling performances.
He later joined Chennai Super Kings for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. In 2023, Punjab reacquired him for a staggering INR 18.5 crore, making him one of the most expensive players in IPL history at the time. He continued with Punjab in 2024 before returning to Chennai in 2025 for INR 2.4 crore. With Chennai in 2025, Curran finished with 114 runs and one wicket in five matches.
