Cricket Australia responds following KKR captain Rahane's blunt reply to Cameron Green query

The murmurs began as soon as the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians ended on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium. The talk was about KKR star Cameron Green, who did not bowl a single over. Cameron Green, who was bought by KKR for INR 25.20 crore in the most recent IPL auction, was not introduced into bowling, raising eyebrows. Meanwhile, in a high-scoring clash, as Mumbai Indians claimed a six-wicket win, overhauling a target of 221 in 19.1 overs, the question wasn’t just how they did it but why KKR's most expensive players didn't bowl.
When asked after the match, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane offered a response: “Ask Cricket Australia.”
"The question you need to ask to Cricket Australia", Rahane said at the post-match presentation.
Later Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed that Green, who underwent a significant back operation in late 2024, is currently managing a minor back complaint.
"Cameron has a lower-back injury, which is being managed, but requires him to abstain from bowling for a short period," a CA spokesperson said.
"Cameron is currently rebuilding his bowling loads in India with a view to return in around 10-12 days' time. KKR has been communicated with and is fully aware of this information."
Amid this, Rahane asserted that once Green starts to bowl, the side will have different combinations.
"I think when hopefully Green starts to bowl soon, the combination will be slightly different. At the moment, we have to see the balance and who can bowl well for us. Batting-wise, as I said, we batted really well, but finding that balance with the ball is really important. So, hopefully, Green starts to bowl soon, then we can find out whether the combination will be okay," Ajinkya said.
