Jadeja opens up about fiery send-off to Shivam Dube

As Chennai Super Kings took on Rajasthan Royals on Monday in Guwahati, veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was against his old team Chennai Super Kings for the first time after more than a decade of loyalty. Now wearing the colors of Rajasthan Royals, Jadeja had a different task and challenge to deal with. Having spent 13 memorable years with CSK, Jadeja’s move to Rajasthan ahead of the IPL 2026 came as a massive surprise. Meanwhile, the veteran all-rounder was in an extremely passionate rhythm and showed exactly why the Royals invested in him.
Delivering an impactful spell, he gave away 18 runs in his three overs while dismantling the middle order at a crucial stage. The highlight of his bowling came in a game-changing over where he removed Sarfaraz Khan and Shivam Dube in quick succession. Those breakthroughs halted CSK’s momentum, and they were restricted to a below-par total of 127.
While his performance with the ball stood out, it was his animated celebration that caught the attention. After being struck for a six by Dube earlier in the over, Jadeja responded strongly two deliveries later. Dube mistimed his shot and was taken by Ravi Bishnoi in the field. To celebrate Dube's wicket, Jadeja pulled out a fiery “gun-shot” celebration that surprised everyone.
"I have known him for a long time. I bowled to him regularly in the nets. I know how he thinks and what he looks to do. I was prepared for that and tried to bowl outside off, because I knew he would look to play big shots against me," Jadeja told the host broadcaster.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals kicked off their IPL 2026 season with a thumping victory. Asking CSK to bat, RR bowlers completely demolished CSK's batting unit, with Jofra Archer, Ravindra Jadeja and Nandre Burger claiming two wickets each. Later, RR chased down the target in 12.1 overs.
“I felt the wicket was a bit sticky, and the ball was turning, so I really enjoyed bowling. My job was just to hit the right areas and let the pitch do the rest,” Jadeja said.
