Ryan van Niekerk appointed Sri Lanka's bowling coach
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed Ryan van Niekerk as the national bowling coach for a two-year term. The appointment will see van Niekerk assume duties from April 15, 2026. His role will span across all national squads, including the senior men’s team. Van Niekerk comes with immense experience, having previously served as Netherlands' bowling and interim head coach between 2023 and 2026.
During his tenure, he played a key role in guiding Netherlands through major ICC tournaments, including multiple World Cups. Alongside him, Jordan Gregory has been named the national fielding and spin-bowling coach, reinforcing the High Performance Centre’s framework.
Both coaches will work closely with the national teams across formats. Van Niekerk’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Sri Lanka as the team looks ahead to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027. Recently, Sri Lanka appointed Gary Kirsten as the head coach of the side.
