IPL 2026 final: Rain threat looming over Ahmedabad
The IPL 2026 final is just hours away, but weather conditions could play a decisive role as defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) prepare to face Gujarat Titans (GT) in the title clash in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Both teams are aiming to secure their second Indian Premier League trophy; however, the skies above Ahmedabad could pose a massive threat.
The local meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for several parts of the city, warning of strong winds and the possibility of thunderstorms. The city has been reeling under an intense heatwave over the weekend, with temperatures soaring to a scorching 43.1°C on Saturday.
However, the IPL has a reserve day in place for the final if weather disrupts proceedings on Sunday. Though all possible efforts will be made to complete the match on Sunday If, due to poor weather conditions, the match is not completed across both the scheduled day and the reserve day, then RCB would be crowned champions because they finished above GT in the league-stage standings.
