Afghanistan Test captain Rahmat Shah created history, joins Indian legend Virat Kohli in distinguished list

Afghanistan’s newly appointed Test captain Rahmat Shah has created history with a stunningly impressive batting performance in the ongoing one-off Test against Bangladesh at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The star batter, captaining Afghanistan for the first time in a Test match, blazed gutsy knocks of 105* and 51 across both innings, joining a list of distinguished stars.
In light of these sparkling knocks, Rahmat Shah became only the sixth player in Test history to notch up a century and a fifty-plus score in his debut match as captain. The list also includes Indian legend Virat Kohli, who reached the landmark milestone as captain during his first Test against Australia in Adelaide in December 2014.
Former England captain Archie MacLaren was the first player to claim this glittering record in 1897 when he tonked both a century and a half-century in his maiden Test as captain against Australia. Talking about the Test match, which has entered final day (day 5), Afghanistan are chasing a target of 479.
