Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have received a big boost in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as their regular captain Pat Cummins is set to return to the squad. After missing a large portion of the season due to a back injury, Cummins has now been cleared to play and confirmed his availability for SRH’s clash against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday. Cummins’ absence earlier in the season was a major setback for Hyderabad.

The fast bowler had been dealing with a lumbar stress injury that not only kept him out of IPL matches but also forced him to miss the T20I World Cup. Notably, he briefly returned to Australia for medical assessments, and following successful scans and rehabilitation he given the green light to resume competitive cricket. In his absence, Ishan Kishan has led the side, with Abhishek Sharma serving as his deputy.

Cummins also took to social media to confirm his availability. “Been a long time coming, stinging to get back into it tomorrow,” Cummins wrote.

Meanwhile, SRH are sitting on the fourth spot in the points table, having four wins and three defeats. Their upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals is very crucial in terms of playoff hopes.
