Ravi Shastri expresses concern over Bumrah's torrid form

Former Indian cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri has expressed concern over Bumrah's torrid form in the ongoing Indian Premier League, urging the franchise (Mumbai Indians) to carefully manage his workload. Bumrah, who is considered to be one of the most dangerous bowlers, has had to experience an unusual tournament, and Shastri has attributed Bumrah's struggles to mental fatigue, underlining his busy schedule in the past 12 months, featuring in the Asia Cup and the T20I World Cup 2026.
Meanwhile, luckless Bumrah continued to struggle in MI's most recent outing against Lucknow Super Giants, where he returned with the figures of 0/45 in his four overs. So far, he has nabbed only three wickets in ten games.
“Bumrah has entered this IPL off the back of a heavy workload with the Indian team over the last 12 months. His struggles are not just physical. Mental fatigue is a big reason. Mumbai Indians need to look after him. Over the next two years, there is a packed schedule, multiple Test series and the 50-over World Cup are coming up. So, his fitness and workload will have to be managed very carefully,” Shastri said while speaking on JioHotstar’s ‘Champions Waali Commentary’.
Though Mumbai Indians won the match against LSG, following remarkable performances from Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma. The duo forged a match-truning partnership of 143 off 65 balls to help MI overhaul a target of 228 with eight balls to spare. Currently, MI are sitting in the ninth place in the points table with three wins in ten games.
