GT edge out CSK to seal a resounding win

Gujarat Titans clinched an imperious 89-run victory over Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday, bolstering their case for a top-two finish in the Indian Premier League 2026. After being asked to bat, Gujarat got off to a rollicking start through their opening pair of Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill.
The duo stitched together an impressive 125-run partnership, laying the foundation for a massive total. Sudharsan was the standout performer, playing a classy knock of 84 from 53 deliveries. Gill followed the tempo brilliantly with a blazing 64 off 37 balls. In the middle-order, Jos Buttler played an explosive cameo, remaining unbeaten on 57 from 27 balls and helping Gujarat Titans finish at 229/4 in 20 overs.
Chasing the target, Chennai Super Kings endured disappointment from the very start as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals that interrupted their progress. Shivam Dube tried to revive the innings with a fighting 47 off 17 balls, but Gujarat’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings and bowled Chennai out for 140 in 13.4 overs. Meanwhile, with the defeat, CSK have been knocked out of the tournament.
