Virat Kohli to miss Afghanistan ODIs

Batting star Virat Kohli is reportedly expected to miss the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan following a hamstring injury. No concrete update has been provided on his recovery, but the star batter will likely be out of action throughout the series. Recently, Virat Kohli was in sensational form in the IPL 2026, blasting 675 runs across 16 matches, including one hundred and five fifties.
He was also instrumental in helping RCB win their second IPL crown, smashing 75 unbeaten in the final against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. For the Afghanistan ODIs, Kohli's absence will be a big blow, with India ramping up their preparations for the ODI World Cup 2027.
Talking about India's assignment against Afghanistan, both sides will face each other in a one-off Test and three ODIs. The series will be kicked off with the Test match, scheduled to be played in Mohali from June 6. And the three ODIs will be held on June 13, 17 and 20 in Dharamshala, Lucknow and Chennai. Kohli's last appearance for India in the ODIs was against New Zealand earlier this year in January. Notably, Kohli only plays ODIs for India, having stepped away from Tests and T20Is.
India’s ODI squad for Afghanistan ODIs: Shubman Gill (c), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vc), KL Rahul (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, Harsh Dubey
