Nasser Hussain backs Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for early India debut

Former England captain Nasser Hussain has joined the growing list of cricketers advocating for teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to be fast-tracked into the Indian national team. Hussain lauded Sooryavanshi for his remarkable performances and suggested that an India call-up may not be far away. Sooryavanshi had a sensational IPL campaign that showcased both his extraordinary talent and fearless approach.
The young batter finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer, amassing a staggering 776 runs in 16 matches. Sooryavanshi’s power-hitting was also on full display. His tally of 72 sixes set a new record for the most maximums recorded by a player in a single IPL edition.
“Such an easy answer to give to that is that yes, he has to play. I didn’t watch too much of the IPL to be honest, but I watched clips of Sooryavanshi and what an incredible talent. So anywhere else in the world you would say get him in. But usually at the toss you just have to name 11 players. In international cricket, who do you leave out for him?,” Hussain said on the ICC Review.
“India have a list of batters they could play and should play, but in the end, someone makes such a case, such a consistent case, and such an incredible case for being picked. In the end, you have to say, I don’t care who we’re leaving out, this lad has to play,” he added.
Sooryavanshi was instrumental in India’s U19 World Cup victory earlier this year, firing a record-breaking performance against England in the final with the highest score of 175 off 80 balls. Meanwhile, as per reports, Sooryavanshi could be included in India's squad for the upcoming T20I tour of Ireland and England.
