Just days ahead of the Women's T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka have been hit hard by an untimely injury setback in their bowling unit. The team will be without Shashini Gimhani, who has been ruled out due to a lower-back injury. Gimhani’s absence is a notable blow to the side’s bowling depth. The right-arm bowler has useful international experience, having appeared in seven T20Is for Sri Lanka.

To replace her, Sri Lanka have brought in Chethana Vimukthi, who is yet to make her T20I debut. However, she has already represented Sri Lanka in three ODIs. Sri Lanka will open their T20 World Cup campaign against England on 12 June at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Sri Lanka's updated squad: Chamari Athapaththu (c), Hasini Perera, Vishmi Gunarathne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Imesha Dulani, Nilakshika Silva, Kaveesha Dilhari, Hansima Karunarathne, Kaushini Nuthyangana, Sugandika Dassanayaka, Nimasha Madushani, Kawya Kavindi, Malki Madara, Mithali Ayodhya, Chethana Vimukthi
