England pacer Ollie Robinson out of 2nd Test against New Zealand

Ahead of the second Test against New Zealand, England have been dealt a crushing after fast bowler Ollie Robinson was ruled out due to a knee issue. The development is a big setback for the hosts, given Robinson’s outstanding performance in the opening match of the series. The Sussex seamer enjoyed a dream return to international cricket at Lord’s, playing a crucial role in England’s convincing 115-run victory.
He claimed three wickets in a brilliant maiden over during New Zealand’s innings. Overall, Robinson took seven wickets, including a superb five-wicket haul in the first innings. Meanwhile, England have drafted in fellow Sussex pace bowler Henry Crocombe as cover. Moreover, pacer Jofra Archer could be in line to make it to the playing XI after linking up with the squad following his IPL commitments.
Robinson’s absence puts England under immense pressure, as Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson have already been left out of the second Test following a pending investigation into an incident at a London nightclub. Amid all this, England remain in a strong position after their opening victory and will be eager to maintain their momentum against New Zealand in the second Test that begins on June 17 at The Oval.
England squad for 2nd Test vs New Zealand: Joe Root (C), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Sonny Bakes, Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Jordan Cox, Henry Crocombe, Ben Duckett, Matthew Fisher, Emilio Gay, James Rew, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue
