"I might be starstruck by him": Stuart Broad lauds young gun Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad has said that he is excited to watch fearless kid Vaibhav Sooryavanshi bat during India's upcoming T20I series against England. Young batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, on the other hand, is looking forward to replicating his breathtaking Indian Premier League (IPL) success into the upcoming T20I series against Ireland starting on Friday. Following the series against Ireland, India will go against England.
The young star was recently named in India's squads for the T20I series against Ireland and England, with India looking to unleash the wonder kid, who has been in scorching form. To further demonstrate his extraordinary batting skills, Sooryavanshi a few days ago blasted the fastest List-A half-century off 11 balls during India A clash against Sri Lanka A in the Tri-Nation Series final in Dambulla.
“He's got it all, hasn't he? He's got it all. He's even getting into sledging now. OK, the cricket's too easy. 11 balls. That's crazy. I'm sure you're probably not hoping, but I'm doing the first T20 up in Durham against India, what's that, July the 1st? Wednesday, July the 1st? I just hope he plays. I really, I've actually got to be honest, I think I might be starstruck by him,” Broad said on the "For the Love of Cricket podcast.
Broad further lauded the young star, highlighting the enormous discussion surrounding his performance.
“And do you know what? It's not just us buying into the hype. I mean, you've obviously seen him, you've kept to him. I've spent the week with Dinesh Kartik, who's one of the coaches, an assistant coach at RCB. And, of course, I'm like, seriously, what do you think of this guy? He's unbelievable. He's seriously unbelievable. You can't get your head around how good this kid is,” he said.
In the IPL 2026, Sooryavanshi notched up 776 runs in 16 matches, maintaining a strike rate of 237.31. He also set a new record with 65 sixes, surpassing Chris Gayle’s record of 59 sixes created in the 2012 season. Notably, if Sooryavnshi makes his India debut, he will become the youngest player to play for India in men’s internationals.
