Virat Kohli shares powerful message as India celebrates 80th Independence Day
India is celebrating its 80th Independence Day today (August 15, 2026) with celebrations continuing in a fitting manner. Members from the cricket fraternity also came together to salute India’s journey and honour the sacrifices behind its freedom. Among the prominent voices on the occasion was batting great Virat Kohli. His Independence Day message focused on the ideas that bring together a country as diverse as India.
“Happy Independence Day. Celebrating the freedom that unites us, the diversity that defines us, and the dreams that drive us forward. May we continue building an India that inspires generations. Jai Hind,” Kohli stated.
Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma also shared a message, “Always proud to carry the 🇮🇳. Happy Independence Day!"
ICC Chairman Jay Shah and former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman also shared their messages.
“The true strength of a nation lies not only in its victories, but in the values that unite its people. Wishing everyone a proud and Happy Independence Day,” Jay Shah stated.
