Prabath Jayasuriya sanctioned for breaching code of conduct

Sri Lanka spinner Prabath Jayasuriya has been penalised after being found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct in the ongoing second Test between Sri Lanka and India in Colombo. Jayasuriya was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match".
One demerit point has been added to his disciplinary record. And it was his first offence in the last 24 months. The incident took place when Prabath was dismissed off the final delivery of the day (Monday).
Following the dismissal, as Prabath was making his way back to the pavilion, he slammed the boundary wedges with his bat on his way back to the pavilion. Meanwhile, Jayasuriya admitted the offence and accepted the sanction levelled by Andy Pycroft, the match referee. Prabath is the third player to be sanctioned in the ongoing Test after Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando,
