The stage is set for a massively blockbuster showdown between rivals India and Pakistan as both teams are ready to cross paths in the ninth match of the ongoing Women's Asia Cup in Dubai on Saturday. Whenever these two teams meet, there are emotion, history and expectations dominating the encounter. Despite all the hype, India have always kept an upper hand, winning 14 of the 17 meetings between the two sides, while Pakistan have managed only three victories.

Pakistan claimed victories in 2012, 2016 and 2022. The 2022 victory is special, as it is the only success they got against India in the Women's Asia Cup. Meanwhile, India have won six of their seven Asia Cup encounters against Pakistan. Pakistan began their Asia Cup campaign with a victory against Thailand Women, but that match saw Pakistan's batting struggle to build partnerships as they could manage only 119 runs. Thailand were competitive for much of the chase and put Pakistan under pressure.

However, Pakistan's bowlers managed to rescue the side. India, on the other hand, also had a strong start, winning against Thailand and Hong Kong, China. The victory against Hong Kong was impressive because India piled up 193 runs, with Smriti Mandhana slamming a superb century to anchor an imposing total. Going into this match, India will look to demolish Pakistan and claim their third victory on the bounce.
