Abhishek Sharma slams century as India romp to series whitewash

Following a scintillating performance, India romped to a 127-run victory over Afghanistan in the third and final T20I on Thursday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium to complete a series whitewash. After being asked to bat, India built great pressure on Afghanistan from the very first ball, with Abhishek Sharma coming out with an attacking approach.
The dashing batter tore into Afghanistan’s bowling attack with a barrage of boundaries. He notched up his hundred off 30 balls, setting a new record for the fastest T20I century by an Indian batter. He broke the previous record held by Rohit Sharma, who had reached his century in 35 balls against Sri Lanka in December 2017.
During his knock of 108, Abhishek smashed 11 sixes and nine boundaries. Sanju Samson also scored a valuable half-century, while Shreyas Iyer contributed 29 to guide India to 221/7 in 20 overs. Chasing the target, Afghanistan’s innings collapsed very badly as they were bowled out for 94 in 14.1 overs.
