Lungi Ngidi ruled out of Australia ODIs
South Africa have suffered another injury setback ahead of the three-match ODI series against Australia, with pacer Lungi Ngidi being withdrawn from the squad due to a right hamstring injury, CSA confirmed. Ngidi sustained the injury during a domestic first-class game, and following scans on Wednesday, it was confirmed that Ngidi will need to undergo a period of rehabilitation.
South Africa have brought in young pacer Nqobani Mokoena as Ngidi’s replacement. Mokoena recently made his ODI debut during the Namibia series. Meanwhile, a decision on Ngidi's availability for the three-match Test series against Australia will be made closer to the start of the series that gets underway on October 9.
Notably, Ngidi is now the third player after Kagiso Rabada and Ottneil Baartman to be ruled out due to injuries. The three-match ODI series between Australia and South Africa will begin on September 24.
