Pakistan have booked their place in the Asian Games men's cricket gold medal match following a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh in a rain-affected semi-final in Nisshin on Thursday. After the match was reduced to 13 overs per side, Bangladesh, asked to bat, scored 111/7 in 13 overs.

Amid the top-order collapse, Towhid Hridoy helped the side a lot, knocking off 42 off 25 deliveries. He stitched a much-needed partnership of 53-run with Mosaddek Hossain, who supported with 11 off 16. Pakistan’s bowling attack was very disciplined, with Sufyan Moqim taking three wickets.

Chasing a target of 112, Pakistan faced difficulty after crashing to 53/4, losing both openers early. However, Saim Ayub controlled the innings with a timely 21 off 12. And later Abdul Samad and Hasan Nawaz fired unbeaten knocks of 30 and 27, respectively, to guide Pakistan home.
