West Indies add Amir Jangoo to T20I squad ahead of India series

West Indies have added Amir Jangoo to their squad for the upcoming T20I series against India as a cover for Jewel Andrew, who picked up a finger injury during the West Indies’ third ODI against India on Saturday in Mullanpur. According to Cricket West Indies Jewel "is still being monitored and assessed by the medical team".
Jewel suffered the finger injury while completing the catch of Indian batter Naman Dhir. Though he nicely took the catch to dismiss Dhir, he copped a blow to his finger, making his position uncertain for the T20I series. He was rushed to hospital for scans immediately after he hurt his finger, and to the West Indies' relief, no fracture was revealed following scans. Meanwhile, Jangoo has been in top form, having already showed his worth in the preceding three-match ODI series.
Across the three ODIs, he notched up 58*, 114 and 67 in the first, second and third matches, respectively. In T20Is, Jangoo has represented West Indies in seven games, scoring 163 runs. Meanwhile, the five-match T20I series between India and West Indies will begin on October 6 at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The remaining four matches will be played on October 9, 11, 14, and 17, respectively.
West Indies updated T20I squad: Shai Hope (c), Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Shimron Hetmyer, Akeal Hosein, Amir Jangoo, Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Keemo Paul, Kamil Pooran, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Quentin Sampson, Romario Shepherd, Shamar Springer
