India vs West Indies 2nd T20I: India look to seal another dominant win over West Indies

India will take on West Indies in the second T20I of the three-match series at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on October 9 (Friday). After a convincing victory in the opening match, India will look to seal the series, while West Indies will be desperate to bounce back and keep the contest alive.
India began the series in impressive fashion, chasing down a target of 172 with eight wickets in hand. The biggest highlight of the opening game was Shreyas Iyer's sensational century, as the Indian batter smashed an unbeaten 102 off just 43 balls to take the game away from West Indies.
With India holding a 1-0 lead, the second T20I promises another intriguing battle, particularly with the Ranchi conditions expected to bring both batting and bowling into the contest. In the first T20I, which was played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, West Indies posted 171 runs, setting India a target of 172. India, however, made light work of the chase and reached 172/2 in just 14.4 overs, winning the match by eight wickets.
Shreyas Iyer was the star of the show. He played an outstanding innings of 102 runs from only 43 deliveries, combining power and timing to dismantle the West Indies bowling attack. Ishan Kishan also made an important contribution with 37 runs, providing valuable support during the successful chase. The performance gives India plenty of confidence heading into the second T20I, while West Indies will need significant improvement with both bat and ball.
India vs West Indies 2nd T20I Pitch Report
The JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi generally offers a balanced contest between bat and ball. Early in the match, the surface is expected to be firm and offer good bounce, which should allow batters to play their shots. Fast bowlers could also get some movement with the new ball, particularly during the opening overs.
A total in the region of 160-170 runs could be considered a strong score at the venue. As the match progresses, the pitch can slow down slightly, bringing spinners and bowlers who rely on variations such as slower balls into the game. However, the biggest factor could be dew. With the match scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM IST, humidity is expected to remain high during the evening. Heavy dew could make the ball slippery in the second innings, making it more difficult for bowlers to maintain their grip. That could give an advantage to the team batting second. Considering the expected dew and Ranchi's history of assisting chasing sides, the captain winning the toss is likely to prefer bowling first.
