Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has opened up about his conversation with Sourav Ganguly before agreeing to join Delhi Capitals as an assistant coach and batting coach ahead of IPL 2027. Yuvraj shared an interesting response to Ganguly’s offer, highlighting the close bond the two former India teammates have shared over the years. Yuvraj made his international debut in 2000 under Ganguly’s captaincy. The two played an important role in India’s success during that period, helping the team achieve several memorable victories.

In a video shared on Delhi Capitals’ official YouTube channel, Yuvraj revealed that Ganguly had approached him with the offer to become his assistant coach. “He (Sourav Ganguly) said, ‘Would you be my assistant?’ And I was like, ‘I've been your assistant for the last 25 years, so I'll probably be doing the same job!’” Yuvraj said.

Yuvraj expressed his happiness at getting the opportunity to work with Delhi Capitals. He explained that he had been preparing himself for a coaching role over the last three to four years by working individually with different players. However, he believes that being part of an entire team's coaching setup will offer a different experience and bring new challenges. “I was very happy to do it. I've been building myself up over the last three to four years for this opportunity. I have worked with players individually, but being part of the entire team environment will be a different experience, and I'm really excited about it,” Yuvraj said. His experience as a former international cricketer and his work with young talents could prove valuable for Delhi Capitals as they look to build a stronger squad for IPL 2027.
