Former India assistant coach compares Shai Hope to Matthew Hayden

Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar has compared West Indies captain Shai Hope's impressive performances against India to Matthew Hayden's dominance during Australia's tours of India in the 2000s. Hope has been in excellent form on the ongoing tour, scoring runs consistently against India's pace and spin attacks.
Speaking to JioStar, Nayar praised the West Indies captain for his ability to combine power, control and adaptability. “The last time I can think of someone dominating India in India was when the Australian team came in the 2000s. Matthew Hayden used to take our bowlers to the cleaners, and Shai Hope is doing something very similar,” Nayar said. “You can't call him a power player or a touch player. He has found the perfect balance, where he can use the pace, but when required, he can generate power and hit those big sixes,” Nayar added.
India and the West Indies will meet in the decisive fifth T20I at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday. Hope's form could prove crucial as the visitors look to finish the series strongly.
