Pakistan release Saim Ayub from squad for ongoing ODI tri-series, Sahibzada Farhan brought in

Pakistan’s top-order batter Saim Ayub has been released from the side's squad for the ongoing ODI tri-series that also features England and Sri Lanka. The PCB, on Monday confirmed that the decision was taken following a request from Saim Ayub to return to domestic cricket to work on his batting. Notably, the left-hand batter has struggled very badly in the series, enduring difficult times and scoring only 21 runs in three games.
“After a conversation with the head coach, Saim requested a desire to return to domestic cricket to work on his batting form and regain confidence,” the PCB said in a statement.
“Respecting Saim’s decision and appreciating his honest assessment of his current form, the team management and national selection committee have mutually agreed to accept this request,” the board stated.
In light of Ayub’s departure, Pakistan have included Sahibzada Farhan into the squad as a replacement for him for the remainder of the tri-series. Talking about Pakistan's performance, they have so far been unbeaten in the series, having comfortably qualified for the final. Their next meeting is against Sri Lanka on Tuesday in Lahore.
