Sri Lanka thrashed Bangladesh by (21) runs in the Super Four match of the ongoing Asia Cup on Saturday at R. Premadasa Stadium. It was a convincing and comprehensive victory for Sri Lanka in their first Super Four match. Asked to bat, Sri Lanka scored a total of (257) after losing (9) wickets in (50) overs. Brilliant knocks from Kusal Mendis (50) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (93) gave a big boost to Sri Lanka.

In their chase of the target, Bangladesh started off well but their innings took a U turn with the wickets of Mehidy Hasan (28) and Mohammad Naim (21) who both had started well for the team. Down the order, Towhid Hridoy gave the team hope with his 82-run knock but he didn't get the support from the other end that led Bangladesh to lose the game by (21) runs. It was a hard victory for Sri Lanka as Bangladesh at times did their best to get back into the game but Sri Lanka bowlers Dasun Shanaka, Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana returned with three wickets each to pin down Bangladesh.
