Team India’s World Cup campaign ended in a heartbreaking moment after they failed to lift the ODI World Cup title for which they had relentlessly put in an enormous amount of hard work. Indian players were left dejected after Australia delivered a sensational performance to win the title with their 6-wicket win over India. With India’s defeat, there have been emotions running high as they were the favourite to go all the way. Australia chased down the low total of (240) with the pivotal 192-run partnership built by Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne to steer the team to a memorable win. Sadly, India had to digest the defeat in the final after delivering phenomenal performances during the league stage games. Dravid, heaped praises on Rohit Sharma for his exceptional leadership and the way he led India during the group stage matches to ten straight wins. Rohit Sharma’s contribution with the bat has been immense as well.

“I think he has been an exceptional leader, always felt he’s led this team fantastically well. He’s given so much of his time and energy in the dressing room to the boys. There’s been a lot of planning, a lot of strategy, he’s always committed to those things,” Rahul Dravid said during the post-match presser.

“His batting as well, I thought it was fantastic the way he set the tone for us. We knew that we wanted to play a certain way, we wanted to play a positive, attacking brand of cricket, and he was very committed to doing that. He wanted to lead by example, and I thought right throughout the tournament he was superb. Can’t speak more highly of him, as a person and a leader,” he said.
