Team India’s defeat in the World Cup final against Australia left them in shock after their successful campaign during the group stage games. India’s efforts during the league stage games were relentless as they registered their victories in all of the games. Moreover, they thrashed New Zealand in the semi-final to make their way into the final to face Australia. Everything went India’s way throughout the tournament but their defeat in the final gave them harrowing times. Being able to muster only (240) after being into bat, India struggled against Australia’s bowling attack led by Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood. Australia came out with a sensational performance in the final with all players delivering in tandem. Reacting to India’s defeat, legendary Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Australia but at the same time lifted India’s spirit by giving encouraging remarks.

“Congratulations to Australia on their sixth World Cup win. On the most important day of the biggest stage, they played better cricket. Hard luck Team India, just one bad day in an otherwise sterling tournament can be heartbreaking. I can imagine the agony of the players, fans and well-wishers and what they must be going through. Losses are a part of the sport but let us remember that this unit gave their all for us throughout the tournament,” Sachin Tendulkar wrote on X (formerly known as twitter).

Australia had well crafted their chase with Travis Head and Marnus Labushange stitching a mammoth 192-run stand to take the team over the line. Australia in their chase had lost their three wickets in quick succession but they powered back with the beautiful partnership to win their record-sixth ODI World Cup title.
