Team India are playing the five-match T20I series against Australia with the young-looking squad which has been incredibly impressive in their performance against Australia’s rather strong squad. India decided to rest their senior players after having been in the recently concluded ODI World Cup. In the absence of senior players, India are playing with the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rinku Singh among others. Suryakumar Yadav is leading the team as there is the availability of Mukesh Kumar and Arshdeep Singh in the bowling unit.

One stark performer for team India has been Mukesh Kumar who has done impressively well whenever he has been handed down the opportunity. Meanwhile, Indian veteran Ravichandaran Ashwin compared Mukesh Kumar to Mohammed Shami while calling him Lala which is Shami’s nickname in the team. R Ashwin felt that Mukesh Kumar could be the ‘junior Lala’.

“I initially thought Mohammed Siraj would become the junior Shami, but I now feel it could be Mukesh Kumar. Shami is called ‘Lala’ and as a tribute to the actor Mohanlal who is called Lalettan, I call Shami Lalettan. Mukesh Kumar has a similar build, similar height, and outstanding wrist position - he has that great whip of the wrist and terrific backspin on the ball. He has a very nice straight and nice alignment,” R Ashwin said on his YouTube Channel.
