NZ vs AUS 1st Test day 1 stumps: Cameron Green challenges Kiwis, rescues the visitors

Australia got off to a devastating start on day one of the first Test match against New Zealand on Thursday at Basin Reserve, registering an early collapse with their high-class batters losing their wickets in a quick succession. New Zealand pacer Matt Henry collected four scalps, snaring Steve Smith, Usman Khawaja, Mitchell Marsh and Nathan Lyon.
Australia’s early wickets put them into a great confusion before they were rescued by young Cameron Green who blasted (103) unbeaten to leave Australia in a rather uplifting situation at the close on day 1. Cameron Green brought up his second Test century, accelerating his innings to guide Australia through perplexing periods. Green showed great patience and composure to fire out much-needed runs.
Australia were 279/9 on day one at stumps with Cameron Green and Josh Hazlewood unbeaten at the crease with their scores of (103) and (0) respectively.
Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh came together to stitch a retaliatory 67-run partnership to keep Australia in a great position. For New Zealand, Apart from Matt Henry, Will O’Rourke and Scott Kuggeleijn returned with two wickets each. Heading into day two on Friday, Australia would hope to get more runs through Cameron Green.
