England Women have beaten Zealand Women by 15 runs in the second T20I match of the five-match series, leading the series 2-0. The match, played on Friday at Saxton Oval, saw New Zealand suffering their second successive defeat

After being sent in, England Women were met with early setbacks with their openers Sophia Dunkley, Tamsin Beaumont falling cheaply.  However, they were bolstered by skipper Heather Knight, producing 56 runs unbeaten to guide the team to 149/7 in (20) overs. She remained the top-scorer for England, inspiring them to a sweet win.

Chasing the target, New Zealand Women lacked the intensity with robust players like Suzie Bates (19), Sophie Devine (17) and Maddy Green (16) not providing enough support with the bat. Lone attempts from Amelia Kerr, top-scoring with (44) runs, didn’t work out after New Zealand remained shy of (15) runs.

The third match, scheduled to be played on Sunday, will hold a lot of importance for New Zealand who will look to save the series.
