Deepti Sharma creates history, becomes leading wicket-taker in T20Is

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma registered a notable achievement during India’s emphatic 94-run victory over Thailand in their Women’s Asia Cup Group A match in Dubai on Sunday, becoming the highest wicket-taker in women’s T20 International cricket. The milestone was quite significant, as it came in her 150th appearance for India in the shortest format.
The veteran off-spinner finished with three wickets, taking her career total to 171 wickets. Her spell also showed the huge experience she carries because she just bowled 1.1 overs and conceded only a single run while claiming three Thailand wickets.
Meanwhile, by playing her 150th T20I for India, she became only the third Indian woman to reach the 150-match mark, following captain Harmanpreet Kaur and opener Smriti Mandhana. Harmanpreet has appeared in 203 T20Is, while Mandhana has reached 172. Moreover, she became only the 12th woman cricketer in history to feature in at least 150 T20Is.
