Moody, Jaffer question DC's decison to leave out Prithvi Shaw

Delhi Capitals have made a wobbly start to their campaign in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024, after being beaten in their last two games. Their two straight defeats have put them into a grave situation.

Their latest defeat landed on Thursday when they fell (12) runs short of 185-run target, put up by Rajasthan Royals, finishing on 173/5 in (20) overs. Despite having a positive start, with openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh getting (33 off 49) and (23 off 12) respectively, DC’s other batters didn’t manage to maintain that momentum, falling at regular intervals.

Delhi Capitals are yet to play their batter Prithvi Shaw who is well capable of providing a good depth to DC's top-order batting attack. This decision by Delhi Capitals hasn’t settled well with Tom Moody and Wasim Jaffer as both of whom slammed Delhi Capitals.

"It doesn't make sense due to the fact that you've got an Indian international player (Prithvi Shaw) in the dugout. Yes, he hasn't performed in the IPL like we had all hoped he would, but you can't score runs from the dugout," Tom Moody said on ESPNcricinfo.

"Now that they have held onto him and not let him go into the auction, I'm surprised they're not playing him. He's played for Mumbai for most of the season, so you'd imagine that he's fit. I'm surprised. Punishing him and then losing the games is not the way to go forward," Jaffer said
