Antigua and Barbuda Falcons create history, clinch maiden CPL title
Antigua and Barbuda Falcons have created history, lifting the Caribbean Premier League title for the first time after racing to an eight-wicket victory over Jamaican Kingsmen in the final in Barbados on Monday. Chasing a target of 171, Falconswent over the line with 20 balls to spare, finishing on 173/2 in 16.4 overs.
Amir Jangoo and Hassan Nawaz rose to the occasion, remaining unbeaten on 57 and 47, respectively, to guide their side across the finish line. The Falcons also made an explosive start to the chase, with Rahkeem Cornwall providing early momentum with a knock of 20 runs, while Evin Lewis made 38.
Earlier, Jamaican Kingsmen, asked to bat, posted 170/9 in 20 overs. Their innings was led by Maaz Sadaqat, who came up with a spectacular individual performance. He slammed a stunning century, smashing 114 runs to give the Kingsmen a respectable total. Despite losing wickets regularly at the other end, he continued to attack and score valuable runs. Antigua and Barbuda Falcons bowler Sufiyan Muqeem shone with the ball, nabbing four wickets.
