IPL 2024 KKR vs RCB: KKR seal a nervy win in a last-ball thriller

Mitchell Starc held his nerve to power Kolkata Knight Riders to a miraculous last-ball victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru by one run on Sunday at Eden Gardens. Defending 20 runs off the final over, Mitchell Starc was taken for three sixes by Karn Sharma, clouting them on first, third and fourth delivery. However, Starc bounced back, successfully taking a return catch to dismiss Sharma on the fifth delivery, thus putting KKR back in the game.
Lockie Ferguson coming to the crease as the last batsman, with RCB needing three off one, nudged the ball to the deep cover and looked for second run, but Phil Salt did an impeccable job, knocking down the stumps to run out New Zealand allrounder. Earlier, chasing a huge total of 222, RCB batters Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar laid a solid foundation, blasting 55 and 52 respectively after openers Faf du Plessis 7 and Virat Kohli 18 departed early. Both Jacks and Patidar stitched a solid stand of 102 off 48.
KKR, on the other side, put on an imposing total on the back of remarkable innings from Phil Salt and Shreyas Iyer scoring 48 and 50 respectively. And a handy cameo from Ramandeep Singh smashing 24* off 9 gave team a great boost in their total. Rinku Singh and Andre Russell also crunched 24 and 27* respectively. Overall, collective efforts from KKR produced a glorious win for them.
