Jones remained the standout performer, clearing the ropes 14 times, involving 10 sixes and 4 boundaries. This victory for USA has set the tone for a marvellous campaign ahead in the tournament.
Canada, asked to bat, started off in a positive mode with openers Aaron Johnson and Navneet Dhaliwal scoring (23) and (61) respectively. Navneet’s half-century was the first for Canada in a T20 World Cup. Nicholas Kirton (51) slammed his half-century down the order to power Canada to a relatively fighting score of 194/5 in (20) overs.
