Ahead of their T20I World Cup opener, Pakistan have been handed a big blow after their all-rounder Imad Wasim was ruled out of the first game due to a side strain. Pakistan will be playing their opening match in the tournament on June 6 against USA at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Imad Wasim had recently come out of international retirement to make himself available to play for Pakistan at the T20I World Cup.

"Imad Wasim will not be available for selection for Thursday’s match as he has been advised rest by the PCB Medical Team," PCB said.

Recently, Imad Wasim also remained absent from Pakistan’s fourth and final T20I match against England after experiencing pain in his right rib cage while batting in the nets. Imad Wasim has been in tremendous form over the past few months since guiding Islamabad United to the title victory at the Pakistan Super League 2024. Imad’s absence will have an impact on Pakistan’s lineup however they have a strong batting and bowling attack.
