Indian head coach Rahul Dravid’s tenure had come to an end after India’s massive heartbreak at the ODI World Cup 2023, where they lost to Australia in the final, but Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s one call got Rahul Dravid to continue as head coach.

Rahul Dravid’s tenure as Indian head coach expired at the end of the ODI World Cup 2023, and he had also made up his mind not to renew his contract, but, after having a phone call with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid decided to continue as head coach. Now, After India’s title victory at the T20I World Cup 2024, Rahul Dravid thanked Rohit Sharma for that phone call.

"Ro, thank you very much for making that call to me in November and asking me to continue," Dravid said in a video posted by the BCCI.

"I think it's been such a privilege and a pleasure to work with each and every one of you, but Ro, also thanks for the time. There is a lot of time we have to chat, we have to discuss, we have to agree, we have to disagree at times, but thank you so very much."

Delightedly, Rahul Dravid’s stint with team India as head coach ended on a joyous note after India won the T20I World Cup title, beating South Africa in the final. India finally raced to their drought-breaking title victory after a long struggle. Rahul Dravid’s term as head coach has now ended as it was valid until the T20I World Cup. The hunt for Dravid’s successor is on and BCCI secretary Jay Shah has also said that new head coach will be named ahead of the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka.
