SL vs IND: India register an unwanted record with defeat in 2nd ODI

Sri Lanka cruised to a 32-run win in the second ODI match against India on Sunday, leading the three-match series 1-0 and stopping India from maintaining their winning record over them. A dazzling bowling performance from young Jeffrey Vandersay tearing through India’s middle-order helped Sri Lanka thrash India.

His six wickets wrapped up India’s innings for 208. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was the top-scorer for India, belting out 64 runs, but other than him no batter could step up to keep India’s scoreboard ticking. India’s defeat in the second game means that for the first time in 27 years they won’t be able to win a bilateral ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Even if India win the third and final ODI, the series will be levelled 1-1 as their first game had resulted in a tie. Talking about the second game, Sri Lanka batting first had scored 240 with Kamindu Mendis and Avishka Fernando scoring 40 runs each. For India, they started well but failed to take advantage of a perfect start, thus failing to go past Sri Lanka's total.
