PAK vs BAN Test: Bangladesh’s perfect start helps them script history, record maiden Test win over Pakistan

In a historic moment for Bangladesh, they secured their maiden Test victory over Pakistan, beating the host by 10 wickets on the final day of the first Test in Rawalpindi on Sunday. The remarkable win propelled Bangladesh to their first-ever Test victory over Pakistan.
Pakistan, having been asked to bat, got off to a rather disappointing start as they lost three crucial wickets in quick succession. However, thanks to Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel who accelerated their attack and stepped up when it mattered the most. Both batters fired 171* and 141 respectively, helping the side amass a formidable total of 448/6d.
In response, Bangladesh showcased their batting prowess with a stellar performance from veteran Mushfiqur Rahim, who stood as a solid pillar for the team with his 191. Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan’s 56 and 77 respectively further boosted team’s total as they compiled a substantial 565 runs in their first innings, surpassing Pakistan’s total and taking a sizeable lead.
Pakistan’s second innings saw them struggling against Bangladesh bowlers, who were now on top of their game. Pakistan managed to score just 146 runs, failing to recover from the initial pressure and unable to build any strong partnerships. This left Bangladesh with a modest target of just 30 runs to chase for victory. Bangladesh achieved the target in 6.3 overs, with openers doing the job for the team. In their 14 Test meetings, Bangladesh had suffered defeats 12 times and one match ended in a draw, with this being the first-ever victory.
