“We made a lot of mistakes”: Shan Masood after Pakistan’s Test series defeat against Bangladesh

Pakistan’s appalling performance in the recently concluded two-match Test series against Bangladesh has jolted them from within as it was quite unexpected with the way they kicked off the series. Pakistan were crushed to a 0-2 series defeat by their spirited rivals Bangladesh, who dominated Pakistan in all departments.
Pakistan’s decisions in each Test carried some relevance but they completely failed to take advantage of booming starts. Bangladesh smartly outwitted Pakistan in the first Test by 10 wickets after host Pakistan’s decision to declare at 448 for 6 came back to haunt them. Bangladesh put on (565) in their first innings and bundled out Pakistan for a low total in their (Pakistan's) second innings to drive themselves to a 10-wicket win.
Again, Pakistan faced same vigour from Bangladesh in the second Test, falling to a six-wicket defeat. Pakistan skipper Shan Masood, touching on Pakistan’s defeat, highlighted team’s weak efforts to get over the line despite having scathing starts.
Since being appointed as Pakistan’s Test skipper, Shan Masood has been unable to lead Pakistan to victory despite having captained the side in five matches. Masood has become the first Pakistani skipper to lose first five Tests as captain.
"I took this job to make the changes we believe will help this team. I am not worried for my job security. If I believe this team can go in a certain direction, even if my personal failure takes Pakistan to that direction, I will be happy. However much time I get I'll be grateful for and do my best," Masood said during the media interaction.
Masood also praised Bangladesh’s efforts and the discipline with which they demonstrated their skills.
"We have to respect the opposition and every opposition has their own qualities. Bangladesh's discipline was superior to ours in both Tests. We have to look at ourselves and the mistakes we made this series, and we made a lot of mistakes. In terms of fitness, whether mental or physical, lasts for four or five days. What we've shown this series is that's something we need to work on."
