India's superstar pacer Jaspirt Bumrah has been praised by Australian legend Ricky Ponting for his destructive bowling attack in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Bumrah scythed through Australia's start-studded batting line up in every match to finish the series with 32 wickets, becoming the top wicket-taker in the series.

India, however, could not clinch the series, losing the final game by six wickets in Sydney. Australia's victory, meanwhile, presented them with a chance to defend World Test Championship title. They won the series against India 3-1 to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar title for the first time in many years.

"No doubt, it's probably the best series of fast bowling I've ever seen. Yes, they had good conditions, the fast bowlers, for most of this series. But when you watched him (Bumrah) bowl compared to anyone else in the series, he made batting look so much harder,” Ponting said as quoted by the ICC.

β€œThere's a lot of quality batting in that Australian top-order as well but he made all of them at different times look silly,” he added.

Bumrah, who had led India to victory in the opening Test in Perth, didn't bowl on final day of the fifth Test after it was revealed that he had suffered back spasms.
