Lucknow Super Giants have beaten the Mumbai Indians on the back of a heroic batting and a disciplined bowling performance. Giants secured their second win of the season by edging out MI by 12 runs on Friday in Lucknow.  MI, chasing a formidable target of 204, fought valiantly but ultimately fell short, finishing at 191/5 in 20 overs.

Earlier in the match, after being asked to bat, LSG put up an imposing total of 203. The key contributors to their high score were Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram. Marsh played a breathtaking knock of 60 runs, providing the early acceleration, while Markram followed with an equally impressive 53 runs. The duo’s masterclass innings set the tone for LSG, allowing them to post a challenging total. Other than Marsh and Markran, David Miller and Ayush Badoni made crucial contributions, hitting 27 and 30 respectively.

Chasing a mammoth total, MI got off to a dismal start, with openers Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton getting back to the pavilion with low scores of 5 and 10 respectively. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir led the recovery with their invaluable innings. Yadav top-scored for MI with 67 runs, while Dhir contributed 46 runs. Together, they provided MI with a glimmer of hope. However, despite the solid foundation laid by Yadav and Dhir, no other MI batter could quite get going in the middle or lower order, with the team falling short of 12 runs.
