Pace spearhead Mayank Yadav joins LSG squad

Lucknow Super Giants have been handed a major boost with pace spearhead Mayank Yadav having joined the squad ahead of their upcoming clash against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday. Yadav’s return will serve as a major boost to the team’s debilitating bowling attack. LSG announced Mayank’s return with a video on their social media along with a caption that read, "Mayank Yadav is back”.
Mayank, who was on the sidelines following back and toe injuries, had been undergoing rehabilitation at BCCI’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Now, after receiving clearance from BCCI’s medical team to play, Mayank will reportedly undergo a fitness test ahead of LSG’s upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals. He will be assessed by LSG head physio Ashish Kaushik.
Last year, Mayank only played four games before being ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to a side strain. However, he had an outstanding season in 2024, clocking the fastest delivery in the tournament’s history at 156.7 kmph and earning a maiden international call-up. But recurring injuries have been a major hindrance in his progress. Meanwhile, in Yadav’s absence, Shardul Thakur has led LSG’s pace attack. Currently, LSG have won four of their seven games played by them so far.
