IPL 2025, Eliminator: Mumbai Indians advance to Qualifier 2, beat Gujarat in tense battle

Mumbai Indians stormed into Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with a dominant 20-run victory over Gujarat Titans in a high-octane Eliminator clash on Friday at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, MI’s batting lineup delivered a spectacular performance, amassing a towering total of 228/5 in 20 overs. Opener Rohit Sharma stole the show with a scintillating knock of 81 runs, while English powerhouse Jonny Bairstow scored a quickfire 47. Skipper Hardik Pandya chipped in with a blistering cameo, hammering 22* runs off just 9 balls.
Chasing the target, GT got off to a fine start, with opener Sai Sudharsan leading the charge with a stylish 80. However, GT’s middle-order faltered under pressure, losing key wickets at regular intervals and failing to capitalise on the strong platform set by Sudharsan. A valiant effort from Washington Sundar, who scored a gritty 48, gave GT a ray of hope, but his efforts weren’t enough to steer the side across the finish line. Now, the loss ends GT’s IPL 2025 campaign.
