Former Indian cricketer and current Dindigul Dragons captain Ravichandran Ashwin has been cleared of ball-tampering allegations by the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). The controversy erupted during a TNPL fixture between Dindigul Dragons and Siechem Madurai Panthers on June 14 after the latter accused the former of altering the condition of the ball using towels treated with chemicals. However, TNPL CEO Prasanna Kannan said no evidence of ball-tampering had been found.

"The towels in question were TNCA-issued and equally available to both teams. The Playing Control Team - including umpires and the match referee - maintained full oversight of the ball throughout the match. No concerns were raised during play, and no verifiable evidence has been provided. The claims appear speculative and post-facto in nature,” TNPL CEO Prasanna Kannan said in a statement.

However, the body that teams may request an independent inquiry by 3 p.m. on June 17 with credible evidence.

In the match, Dragons had secured a comfortable nine-wicket win, with Shivam Singh and Ravichandaran Ashwin scoring 86* and 49 respectively. Dragons now have two wins from four games
