“It doesn't look great”: England provide update on Chris Woakes’ injury

On day one of the fifth Test against India, England suffered an injury blow after fast bowler Chris Woakes sustained a shoulder injury while fielding. He dived to prevent a boundary but landed awkwardly on his left shoulder, forcing him to exit the field. Woakes, who was in visible pain, was escorted off the field. Later, pacer and teammate Gus Atkinson, who returned with two wickets, provided an update on Woakes’ injury.
"I don't know too much about it, but it doesn't look great," Atkinson said in the press conference.
"It's a big shame, last game of the series, and when anyone gets injured, it's a shame. I'm hoping it's not too bad, and whatever it is, he'll get full support from everyone."
Despite England bowling first under overcast conditions, India closed day one with 204 for six in 64 overs. Karun Nair stepped up for India with an unbeaten 52*. For England, Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue impressed, providing crucial breakthroughs. Both took two wickets each. Chris Woakes, on the other hand, took one wicket in 14 overs, leaking 46 runs.
