West Indies player Roston Chase bagged an unwanted record after becoming the first batter to retire out during a men's T20I involving two full member teams. It all happened during the third and final T20I between West Indies and Pakistan on Sunday in Lauderhill when West Indies were in pursuit of a 190-run target. Chasing the target, West Indies got off to a solid start, with openers Jewel Andrew and Alick Athanaze scoring 24 and 60, respectively.

Meanwhile, West Indies lost skipper Shai Hope for 7, putting the side in trouble. While Sherfane Rutherford was leading the assault from the other end, he didn’t get the requisite support from other players. As for Roston Chase, coming to bat at number five, he struggled to find the momentum. Even after facing a few balls, he remained in the doldrums, failing to hit the ball.

He was only able to manage 15 off 12 before he was called back to the dugout. When Chase retired, West Indies had needed 41 runs off 18 balls to claim victory, but they could only manage 27, thus losing the series 2-1.
